Karori Cricket Club :: Background Of Our Club

Karori Cricket Club was established in 1880 and has been a leading club in the local cricket competitions ever since.

The club's senior side competes in the Pearce Cup competition and it has six other senior teams in various grades, along with a large number of junior teams. The club has contributed a number of Wellington and New Zealand representatives such as Richard Petrie and Evan Gray.

The club's home ground is located at Karori Park, we also use Ben Burn and Galloway Parks. The clubrooms, also based at Karori Park, provide a pleasant view of the ground, with a pleasant social environment and are also used for functions.

Our home ground has recently undergone a major redevelopment, providing one level playing area, providing top quality wicket blocks away from the soccer grounds, new outdoor training nets and a ground that will be able to host major sporting events.

Our clubrooms have been upgraded to allow for a more user friendly facility.

The club welcomes a broad mix of players, from representative level through to social. Karori offers playing and coaching opportunities for all levels of skill and commitment

Last season our Pearce Cup team finished third and also won the 20/20 cup, with the 1b(b) grade winning its grade

During the 2006-2007 and the early part of the 2007-2008 season's, the club held a number of events, to mark the one hundred and twenty five years of the club's existence.
