Welcome to another season of cricket with the Karori Junior Cricket Club.
The 2006-2007 season runs from Saturday 28 October 2006 to Saturday 16 December 2006 and from Saturday 3 February 2007 to Saturday 31 March 2007. All games start at 8.30am, other than Milo Have-A-Go (Under 6) grade which may start at 8.30 or 9am. In addition, this season we have a new initiative in the Milo Kiwi (Under 7) grade whereby a group of players who are not playing inter-club Saturday morning games will be gathering at 11.00am on Saturdays for skills sessions and in-house games. Please note it is important the games start on time as we need to finish in time for the senior games to commence.
The weekly draw is printed in the Dominion Post on Thursdays or it can be found on our website: www.karoricricket.org.nz by clicking on this link or the Cricket Wellington website: www.cricketwellington.co.nz.
Cancellations will be broadcast on Wellington 2ZB (1035kHz) each half hour, prior to game start. Please make sure you listen for these messages to avoid disappointment and unnecessary travel.
The grade conveners this season are: • Andy Marshall (Premiers) • Conrad Shanly (Colts) • Anthony Reidy (Under 14) • Jeremy Sprott (Under 12) • Marilyn Mills (Under 11) • Murray Chandler (Under 10) • Grant Watkins (Under 9) • Russell Garrett (Under 8) • Richard Thompson (Milo Kiwi Under 7) • Craig McDonald (Milo Have-A- Go Under 6) • Mark Simmonds (Girls)
Get Involved
Firstly, a huge thank you to all those people who give up their time to convene, coach, manage
and support our players.
We are going to be losing Committee members next season as children go on to college. Please give some thought to joining our Committee. We are not overly formal, we welcome new ideas and it is a great way to get involved in your child’s sport. Please also be willing to act as umpires or scorers for your team and give the person coaching your team as much support as you can — it’s not an easy job! Thank you to everyone who is already helping to add to the success of our club.

Apparel
As a club we recommend that players in all grades wear white polo shirts. These can be bought from Kilbirnie Sports (who offer our players a 10% discount prior to the start of the season). Most of the older children choose to wear white trousers - whilst the younger children wear a mixture of white shorts or trousers. In this regard, it should be noted that some of those pre-Christmas games can be a bit chilly! We do think it is good for the kids to look like “professional” little cricketers and we think it helps the children feel part of the team if they are all in whites. The club will be providing club hats/caps this season but they may not arrive until a couple of weeks after we get started. In the meantime the kids should wear their own hat and don’t forget the sunblock and the water bottle!
